ROA (Refuge of Art) was founded in 2016 by Dominican-born Jose Luis Cabrera Roa. Cabrera is committed to sustainability and purpose-driven fashion; his work focuses on the reduction of waste and on spotlighting social issues in the Dominican Republic, as well as other Latin American countries. As a creative, Cabrera is committed to improving the quality of life for children in Latin America by giving underdeveloped communities a voice through fashion. Cabrera’s design philosophy focuses on design circularity–The ROA line is produced by underdeveloped communities in the Dominican Republic, with a profit-sharing model in place that is geared towards giving back by creating job opportunities, and enabling families to have a stable source of income. In addition to this, with each transaction, 10% of his profits are donated to elementary schools in the Dominican Republic
